I feel like I cheated with this drawing.
Lately, I’ve been drawing on my dining room table. Which means I have to be somewhat clean and not get paint everywhere.
Making a bunch of smaller mixed media drawings on top of the same sheet of paper again and again. This macaw drawing is made on that same messy sheet of paper used to protect my table.
All the spills, smudges, and mixed colors created the perfect sheet of paper to draw on.
Using a small brush and india ink, I laid down some loose lines to capture the form of the macaw. Then I went in with some watercolor brushes to add color to bring out more of the form.
I couldn’t be more happy with the results. A bunch of “mistakes” that turned out to look intentional.
