Macaws end up in my sketchbook more than any other animal.
I really can’t explain my fascination with them. Though, they did make an impact on me during my first road trip around the Pacific side of Costa Rica.
Here’s what the sketch looked like before I added color:
There are many more of these side profiles of macaws throughout my sketchbooks. They’re fun for me to draw because there are so many different combinations of macaws. Anything pretty much goes even if I’m making up the colors.
As always, my drawings of animals are loose and messy to communicate their motion and action.
