Sketching Cambodia: Getting lost in ancient temples

After some time hanging out in Thailand we made a last minute decision. To visit Cambodia.

I've always wanted to see the Temple of Angkor Wat, Angkor Thom, the Bayon Temple. With their countless sculptural decorations and mysterious history – we decided to include Cambodia in our trip. Even if it wasn't a planned part of our journey.

Once we got through the Cambodian border we negotiated a driver to take us to Siem Reap. A ride that just started with just my girlfriend and I. Later turning into a 4-door Toyota Camry with 9 people in it. Plus a live chicken tied to the trunk.

We spent the next day exploring the temples. Ideas for stories and drawings flooded my mind from exploring these temples.

The dense jungles overtaking the temples made me realize how much more texture and layers I wanted to start adding into my mixed media work.
